Poetry Slam

Yesterday I had a wonderful experience what for me was the perfect '09 ending. I had the chance to go and see the 'Poetry Slam' Berlin city-championship finals. Those who don't know what 'Poetry Slam' is, the rules are simple. It is a competition at which poets read or recite their original work within 5 min. These performances are then judged by the noise like clapping/stamping with feet/whistling of the audience. It was so much fun to see/hear young poets performing their pieces with wit, intelligence and fire. This year's winner for Berlin is Julian Hein, who made a brilliant performance. As one who had the opportunity to visit one of the most interesting cities in the world, I would like to share with you this beautiful made Tokyo hommage by Philip Bloom. I still can feel this city like I'm there, when I watch that short film. This song is also beautiful.

Uncertainty

Yesterday I watched a very interesting film, called 'Uncertainty'.

Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who convinced me with his brilliant performance during the film '(500) Days of Summer' and Lynn Collins (who is btw quite a feast for the eye), shortly seen in Wolverine and the TV show 'True Blood'.
This film has no problem to go under the term 'breaking the mainstream'. It is not a new idea to show two versions of scenes or two versions of the film within a film. Best examples for repeating scenes with different results in the end are 'Run Lola Run (Lola Rennt)' or the 'Butterfly Effect'.
'Uncertainty' is different though, because they are two different versions of Kate and Bobby's realities within a 24hours interval.

With the flip of a coin, the couple are sent in opposite directions – a delicate drama set in Brooklyn examines familial love, self-discovery, loss and the ordinary choices we make everyday, while Manhattan offers a vastly different tale of intrigue, suspense and murder on the streets of Chinatown.
Brilliant idea and good realised on screen. I loved it.

Avatar

On Saturday I went to see Avatar in 3D and I was well amazed! After all the hype about this film, I had to make my own mind up. After my first 3D-feature-film-experience almost over 2 years ago I was very skeptic about seeing a movie in 3D again. I got a bit dizzy back then and didn't enjoy it so much.
I went to see Avatar with a very weird feeling, but excited. After the first 5-10min I got hooked and I dipped into the Pandora world almost completely. It was extraordinary!

I think, it was the first time after a long time I didn't realise what happened around me. Visually I had a pure WOW-feeling!
The storyline was not so great as I hoped, but that wasn't so important anymore. Still, the story was not bad, a simple antihero-hero-love-story, but mixed with political and environmental issues, which made a strong base for the colourful graphic explosion on screen.
This film surprised me and is for me one of the top films 2009 now.

The Misanthrope

Hi, First of all I'm back in Berlin!!
Wooah...It was a very exhausting last week at uni, with all the assignments...well, it's all done! Time to enjoy now. At least a bit.
On saturday i drove up to London to meet some friends over there.
We decided to go to the theatre on sunday.

We watched Moliere's "The Misanthrope", adapted by Martin Crimp.

On stage we saw Damien Lewis and Keira Knightley!! Amazing performance of all the ensemble! Stage design, light, costume, music... I loved all of it.

It was Keira's on stage debut and she did her performance well. She played the american actress Jennifer. At first I needed to get used of seeing her on stage, but that doesn't change the fact that she was very good as a woman, who plays around with all her admirer. My friends and I enjoyed the play very much! Damien Lewis as Alceste was very good indeed.
The whole play was brilliant and made us laugh quite often. It is definitely worth to watch it! I'm glad i had the chance to see it before going back to Berlin.

Yesterday we went out "into the wild" around Winchester and tried to live like we would live outside of society. It was pretty cold and we almost failed in everything. But nothing could have stopped us, because we had not only vegtables and sausages to cook over an open fire, we also had Carlos Charles Vernandes Van Chicken with us. He kept us company and is still with us. So enjoy our first still image trailer:

Logos

What a productive day! fuiuuh...
The shortfilm "Safe" is completed and ready to show you guys.

I finished designing two logos today as well. One is the ScreenCatcher one and the other is my own logo, what comes on my own work from now on.
The ScreenCatcher logo is build out of the initials S and C. It comes on our webpage soon, so look out. Also we upgraded our site to screencatcher.net, which looks way better on our own business cards which i also created today:)

ScreenCatcher update: Changed idea for docu.

Long time no ScreenCatcher update on here. As i told you before, we are making a documentary. As it came to a couple of problems with our drug testing idea we changed it completely.
We will go to different places where you can live outside the "normal" society. Also i'm on it to create a nice logo and posters for our site. i'll keep you updated.

"True Colour" is still in preproduction, but we will start filming it after christmas.

I also will put up another shortfilm i've been working on soon. "Safe" is it called and directed by a friend from uni.

Fergie is not only a brilliant singer, she's more then that as you can see! At Victoria's Secret Fashion Show she presented herself perfectly in that stunning dress and it was sensational;) I had to put it up, because i couldn't believe it.
