Poetry Slam

Yesterday I had a wonderful experience what for me was the perfect '09 ending. I had the chance to go and see the 'Poetry Slam' Berlin city-championship finals. Those who don't know what 'Poetry Slam' is, the rules are simple. It is a competition at which poets read or recite their original work within 5 min. These performances are then judged by the noise like clapping/stamping with feet/whistling of the audience. It was so much fun to see/hear young poets performing their pieces with wit, intelligence and fire. This year's winner for Berlin is Julian Hein, who made a brilliant performance. The video shown below is from a Kreuzberg slam in September. If you are interested in german poetry slamming visit Slammin Poetry.
